Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings

Take an early look at early rankings for quarterbacks for 2012!

Quarterbacks:

1. Aaron Rodgers—he might be the best option at number one overall with all RB injuries
2. Drew Brees—big drop in fantasy from Rodgers to Brees, but still better than the rest
3. Tom Brady—hard to put him higher when he only throws to three players
4. Cam Newton—do you want to gamble or play it safe? Will he really be the goal line RB?
5. Michael Vick—he’s been mediocre but still a top five option at QB; don’t gamble though
6. Tim Tebow—will he be QB all year? Will he keep running? Will he keep throwing picks?
7. Phillip Rivers—he’ll bounce back but it’s hard to put him above running quarterbacks
8. Matt Schaub—always seem to miss some time; can be the best of the non-elite
9. Matthew Stafford—if healthy, he’s proven he should be higher. You trust him to play 16?
10. Eli Manning—he’s a good starting QB, but once down here don’t waste high picks

Honorable Mention:

Peyton Manning—if he plays, he knocks his brother off the list
Ben Roethlisberger—solid, but also safe and boring
Jay Cutler—might be a worthwhile gamble, might be a worthless quarterback
Tony Romo—his own coach doesn’t trust him, so you probably shouldn’t

Fantast Football Running Back Rankings

These are my picks for 2012 so far!

Running Backs

1. Arian Foster—easily top three overall, especially since he is now a dual threat
2. LeSean McCoy—minor concern that improvement from Vick/ receivers may hurt numbers
3. Ray Rice—too many bad games to make me really want him as my elite RB
4. Maurice Jones-Drew—after this year, you have to wonder when age will impact him
5. Matt Forte—recovery from injury is the only concern I have with him; can he hold up?
6. Chris Johnson—hate having him this high, but you have to gamble with running backs
7. Ryan Matthews—don’t get too excited about him if there is a coaching change
8. Marshawn Lynch—I’d pay careful attention to his offseason/ preseason production
9. Frank Gore—boring, but safe; stay away if he is not there foal line back anymore
10. Jamaal Charles—previous potential makes me want to gamble if he slides in drafts

Honorable Mention:

Stephen Jackson, Michael Turner—age has dropped them from my top 10
McFadden/ Bush, Fred Jackson/ CJ Spiller—the teams provide top 10 production, but which one do you draft?
Adrian Peterson—impossible to rank without offseason injury updates

Fantasy Football Wide Receivers Rankings

Fantasy Football Early 2012 Rankings

Wide Receivers

1. Calvin Johnson—the best real life receiver will also be the best fantasy receiver
2. Wes Welker—Brady really is this good, and take him first in a PPR
3. Andre Johnson—I think it is always appropriate to worry about his health from now on
4. Roddy White—don’t punish him next year for being overrated this year; he’s still good
5. Mike Wallace—great talent, just short of elite level and on the wrong team for fantasy
6. Larry Fitzgerald—temper the enthusiasm by checking out his game by game scoring
7. Steve Smith—obviously suffered from a terrible QB situation the last few years
8. Greg Jennings—position depth on his team & around the league keeps him down a little
9. Hakeem Nicks—he’s always nicked up and is often a game time decision
10. AJ Green—his production this year has warranted a lofty ranking for a young receiver

Honorable Mention:

Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin—chemistry concerns and Jackson might be moved
Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, Kenny Britt—injuries are the issue, not talent

Anyone have any other thoughts about wide receivers?

Fantasy Football Rankings for Tight Ends

These are my fantasy football tight end rankings for 2012

Tight Ends

1. Jimmy Graham—not competing with another tight end and receivers for targets
2. Rob Gronkowski—he’s crazy good, and it’s not an insult to be behind Graham
3. Jason Witten—there’s something to be said for consistency
4. Jermichael Finley—there’s got to be something new for Rodgers to do next year
5. Antonio Gates—the only real question is health
